1050 Bascom, the UW-Madison Department of Political Science podcast, reached out to Professor Nils Ringe for his help in placing the Covid-19 pandemic in a historical context with respect to both the global impact and the possible long-term implications for state and international institutions. Prof. Ringe also shared his insights on the German response to the pandemic, and the role that trust in government, belief in science, and state institutional and social structures play explaining why some countries have had comparative success in addressing the crisis.
