Deniz Utlu is a writer. He founded the culture and society magazine freitext, and studied economics in Berlin and Paris. His debut novel, Die Ungehaltenen, was published in 2014 (Graf Verlag). He published his second novel, Gegen Morgen, in 2019 (Suhrkamp Verlag). He was awarded the 2021 Alfred-Döblin-Preis and 2019 Literature Prize of the State Capital Hanover.
