University of Wisconsin-Madison (Deadline: October 4, 2019)

The Jean Monnet European Union Center of Excellence will award one .50 Research Assistant fellowship for the full calendar year of 2020, including the summer, to an advanced graduate student.

The Center welcomes applications for a .50 Research Assistantship for doctoral students at the dissertator level. Applicants’ research must focus on Europe and the European Union in the post-1945 era. Applications must specify with particular clarity how the dissertation involves study of the European Union and be accompanied by the list of items below, including a letter of recommendation from one faculty member (preferably, though not exclusively, a faculty participant on the grant). Consult these websites for the lists of affiliated faculty:

Graduate students must have completed two full years of graduate study at the University of Wisconsin-Madison before applying to the position. Those who have already received a Jean Monnet European Union Center of Excellence .50 RAship (previous to 2019) are eligible to re-apply, but preference will be given to qualified applicants who have not yet received support.

The application consists of the following:

  • One letter of recommendation from a UW faculty member;
  • Graduate transcript (an unofficial copy will suffice);
  • A two-page double-spaced research abstract of your work, with a title;
  • A curriculum vitae.

The application deadline is Friday, October 4, 2019. Award notifications will be made very shortly thereafter. Send the materials listed above (PDF versions preferred) directly to the following email address:
