On April 13th, Rebecca Donner delivered the 2022 Mildred Fish-Harnack Human Rights and Democracy Lecture hosted by the Human Rights Program and International Division and co-sponsored by the Center for German and European Studies and Global Legal Studies Center. This annual lecture honors the leadership, courage, and self-sacrifice embodied by Mildred during her fight against the Hitler regime.
Donner’s presentation, “Mildred Harnack: An American Graduate Student at the Center of Berlin’s Underground Resistance to Hitler” focused on the life of her great-great-aunt, Mildred Fish-Harnack, in the New York Times bestseller All the Frequent Troubles of Our Days. The lecture highlighted archival research about her aunt and her involvement in an underground resistance group in Berlin during the Hitler regime.
