On October 28, 2016, Professor David Blackbourn of Vanderbilt University delivered “The German Atlantic: Recovering an Invisible World,” the inaugural event of the Gisela Imm Bloomenkranz Memorial Fund. In attendance was the Bloomenkranz family, whose generosity to the University of Wisconsin-Madison Center for German and European Studies made the event possible. Sol Bloomenkranz established the fund in honor of his wife of 58 years, Gisela. CGES will continue to assist Mr. Bloomenkranz in paying tribute to his wife by inviting David Blackbourn and other scholars of his reputation to give more events and programs in the future.
