Sponsored by the Friends of the Max Kade Institute.
Are you a scholar trying to decipher resources written in the old German handwriting? A family historian wishing to read documents written by your German-speaking ancestors? This workshop will provide an introduction to Kurrent, the old German script most widely used in the 18th to early 20th centuries. Through presentations and practical exercises, you will learn strategies on how to decipher individual characters and words in Kurrent. Knowledge of German is helpful but not required.
