Co-sponsored by European Studies, Allen Centennial Garden, Department of French and Italian, and others.
Join us between noon and 5pm on Saturday, September 30 to celebrate an abundant and diverse harvest! We’ll have live music, dancing, and storytelling alongside opportunities to learn about different harvest traditions from Dejope (Madison) and around the world. Free and open to the public!
This year, our Harvest Festival will focus on the importance of seeds! To help us highlight the topic, we’ll be hosting new opportunities like a seed swap and cooking demonstrations.
The harvest festival’s song, dance, and food celebrates the ongoing Kitchen Garden project which has been highlighting the crops, cuisines, and cultures of our African American, Hmong, Indigenous, and Latinx partners.
The event will include UW student projects from the Food Cultures of Italy First-Year Interest Group, Italian language and their projects (FIG LT 410, Food Cultures of Italy, Italian 101, First Semester Italian, and Horticulture 120, Survey of Horticulture; Professor G. Menechella), and a demonstration by local chef Francesco Mangano.
