Tanja Dückers, Distinguished Max Kade Writer in Residence, will present on the topic of “Home Away from Home: Ukrainian Writers in Exile in Germany.” She is not only a distinguished, prize-winning professional writer-poet, but also a well-known journalist and German PEN-Center Activist who regularly writes for prestigious weekly and daily newspapers in Germany. A member of the Berlin-based refugee support group Wir machen das. Jetzt (We are doing it. Now), Tanja Dückers has also been actively engaged in the sub-group Weiterschreiben. Jetzt (Write On. Now), a project assisting asylum-seeking authors all over Germany. Since the beginning of the war attacking Ukraine, Tanja has been particularly involved in assisting Ukrainian writers in Berlin.
