Dr. Patricia Morris is an internationally-known leader in women’s empowerment and a gender-mainstreaming expert who has worked in Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe and the Middle East. She is Managing Director and Principal Consultant at Morris Consulting where she leads the firm’s work strengthening individual and institutional capacity for gender equality and social inclusion. Previously, Dr. Morris served as President of Women Thrive Worldwide where she led an alliance of over 200 women’s groups and civil society organizations in 50 countries advocating for the inclusion of women’s and girl’s priorities in U.S. and U.N. global development policy. During her 25-year career, she has worked closely with the U.S. government to advance initiatives empowering women and girls and has led dozens of organizations and corporations to institutionalize equitable gender policies, advance women’s and girls’ empowerment and promote women’s rights and gender equality. Dr. Morris facilitated the development of institutional gender policies, gender action plans, and gender responsive programs and projects for non-governmental organizations including CARE, Heifer International, the International Institute for Rural Reconstruction, Dr. Morris is a native of St. Croix in the US Virgin Islands and holds a PhD in International Politics from Florida State University.
