Professor Naika Foroutan, Humboldt University, Berlin, will be the keynote speaker at the 52nd Wisconsin Workshop for Dis/Continuities: German Studies and Beyond. Naika Foroutan is Director of the Berlin Institute for Empirical Integration and Migration Research (BIM) and Head of the BIM work area “Integration Research and Social Policy.”
The focal points of her research and teaching activities include the topics of migration and integration; Images of Islam and Muslims in Germany; identity and hybridity; political Islam and social transformation of immigration countries. In 2011 she received the Berlin Integration Prize for her intervention in the nationally controversial “Sarrazine debate”. In 2012 she received the Science Prize of the Fritz Behrens Foundation, which is awarded every two years for excellent research. In 2016 she received the Höffmann Science Prize from the University of Vechta.
This lecture is free and open to the public and will be held in the English language.
