On Saturday, December 8, from 9 am to 4 pm, Alverno College and UW-Madison’s Institute for Regional and International Studies (IRIS), along with UW-Milwaukee’s Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies and Institute of World Affairs are offering a workshop for K-12 teachers, “Building Global Communities: A Conversation around Immigration.”In this workshop, participants will explore the opportunities and challenges of immigrant students in the K-12 classroom. Join us to explore the topic from legal implications to personal stories. You will hear firsthand experience from an immigration lawyer, practicing school administrator, teachers and students. You will have an opportunity to experience some of the procedures and challenges yourself by participating in a lively simulation.

Lunch, refreshments and resources provided.

The cost is $30 for professionals; $15 for students. The deadline to register is December 1.
