MIGRATIONSRAT BERLIN
Der Migrationsrat Berlin ist ein Zusammenschluss von Organisationen, die von Schwarzen, People of Color und Migrant_innen sowie ihren Nachkommen getragen werden. Der Dachverband ist im Jahr 2004 nach einem längeren Diskussionsvorlauf entstanden und umfasst über achtzig Mitgliedsorganisationen, die hier ihre Community-übergreifende Arbeit bündeln. Neben einem regionalen Schwerpunkt auf Berlin (und Brandenburg) fokussiert die inhaltliche Arbeit Bildung, Beratung, Lobby- und Öffentlichkeitsarbeit, insbesondere zu Migrationspolitik, Rassismuskritik und post-kolonialem und post-nationalsozialistischem Erinnern und Gedenken – und zwar mit den jeweiligen Schnittmengen zu Geschlecht, Alter, Behinderung, Religion, Sexualität und Ost/West.
BIO
Koray Yılmaz-Günay ist seit Januar 2020 Co-Geschäftsführer des Migrationsrats Berlin. Vorher war er lange ehrenamtlich im Vorstand tätig. Er ist seit Anfang der 1990er Jahre politisch aktiv, zunächst in der Schüler_innen-Bewegung, durch die rassistischen Anschläge nach der deutschen Einheit schnell auch in antifaschistischen und antirassistischen Gruppen. Ende der 1990er Jahre hat er mit anderen GLADT gegründet, eine Organisation von queeren Migrant_innen, Schwarzen und People of Color. Darüber hinaus arbeitet er als Dolmetscher und Übersetzer und in der politischen Bildung. Seit 2015 hat er einen eigenen Verlag, den Verlag Yılmaz-Günay
Koray Yılmaz-Günay has been a political educator, publicist and activist since the 1990s, especially in the fields of migration, (anti) racism, criticism of patriarchy and queer lifestyles. As a representative of GLADT, an organization of migrant and non-migrant queer people of color, he participated in the founding phase of the Migration Council Berlin from 2003-2004, an umbrella organization of around eighty migrant self-organizations, organizations of people of color. After numerous publications of his own, he founded the “Verlag YılmazGünay”, which primarily publishes Menschen of Color zu Fragen der Intersektionalität “People of Color on Issues of Intersectionality”. He has headed the office of the Migration Council Berlin since January 2020.
