The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) and UW-Madison’s Wisconsin International Resource Consortium (WIRC) invite Global Scholars Program students and teachers for the Global Learning Summit: Engaged Learning to Lead for Change virtually on Saturday, April 13 from 9:00am-3:30pm CST.

Global Scholars Program Coordinators and Colleagues
9 am – 12 noon

Global Scholars Program implementation and growth goals will be the focus of the morning agenda. The Stevens Initiative will facilitate a session on planning, or expanding, global learning opportunities through virtual exchange. Coordinators will be invited to share practices, resources, and ideas to support the development of global competence within your school communities. Discussion will include language programming, career-connections, virtual exchange, and partnerships for global learning. Participating educators will receive a text to support leadership development for global learning. Join us for a day of collaboration, inspiration, and learning!

High School Global Scholars with Program Coordinators and Colleagues
12:30 pm – 3:30 pm

Global learning often leads to global engagement and service. The Summit will begin with Lori DiPrete Brown, Director of Global Health and Human Ecology (UW-Madison) who will share her journey of learning and leading for change. The following panelists will offer diverse experiences with service, inquiry, and civic engagement:

  • Ella Zelena – Current Peace Corps volunteer in Indonesia
  • Nada Elmikashifi – WI Legislative Staffer, Grassroots Organizer, and Political Activist
  • Audrey Thibert – Award-Winning Student Jounralist (UW-Madison)

Students will explore the benefits of global learning through virtual exchange and study abroad programs with The Stevens Initiative, CIEE, and UW-Madison Study Abroad program representatives.
