Image result for Frode Helland, “The Rhetoric of Racism in the Norwegian Public Sphere”Professor Frode Helland speaks about his 2019 book Rasismens retorikk: studier i norsk offentlighet [The Rhetoric of Racism: Studies in the Norwegian Public Sphere], in which he analyzes the strategies, tropes, and figures of racist discourse in Norwegian public debates from the interwar period to the present day.

Frode Helland is currently Dean of Humanities and Director of the Center for Ibsen Studies at the University of Oslo, where he has been professor in Nordic Literary Studies since 2004. Helland is the author or editor of multiple books on Ibsen in cross-cultural performance, and he has also been active as a theater and literary reviewer in the Norwegian press.
