Join us for an upcoming information session to learn more about the FLAS (Foreign Language and Area Studies) fellowship program. These fellowships, funded by the U.S. Department of Education and administered by UW-Madison’s National Resource Centers, are designed to support students in acquiring foreign language skills and expertise in area or international studies.

*Please note that FLAS awards are only available for specific languages, and are contingent on federal funding.

Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents, and students from all academic backgrounds are encouraged to apply.  Fellowships are available for intensive language study during the summer and for language and area studies during the academic year.  FLAS fellowships cover tuition and provide a stipend for either one academic year or for a summer.  For more information and for guidance about preparing an application, please contact the European Studies FLAS coordinator.

Applications and deadline information for FLAS awards can be found here.
