Robert Strand, “Sustainable Vikings: Understanding Nordic Global Leadership in Sustainable Capitalism”

As part of the “Sustainability in the North: Culture, Environment, and the Economy” First Year Interest Group (FIG), Dr. Robert Strand will discuss his research into Nordic models of sustainability. Titled “Sustainable Vikings: Understanding Nordic Global Leadership in Sustainable Capitalism,” Dr. Strand will introduce us to what sustainable capitalism might look like, who the sustainable Vikings are, and what Nordic models exist already in the United States.

Robert Strand is the Executive Director of the Center for Responsible Business and Lecturer at the Berkeley Haas School of Business. His research and teaching compares U.S. and Nordic approaches to sustainable and socially responsible business. He has more recently turned attention to contrast varieties of capitalism in the U.S. and Nordic contexts and is currently working on the book project “Sustainable Vikings.” He was a United States Fulbright Scholar to Norway.
