“Fear of the Family: Guest Workers and Family Migration in the Federal Republic of Germany,” Lauren Stokes
Lauren Stokes, PhD, is an Assistant Professor of History at Northwestern University. She is a historian of Modern Germany with a more specific focus on 20th century Germany, migration, race in Europe, and gender and sexuality. Her first book, Fear of the Family: Guest Workers and Family Migration in the Federal Republic of Germany examines the way family members functioned within the West German migration regime. Family migration offers insight into changing ideas not just about the role of the “family,” but also about gender, race, and the welfare state. Click here for an updated profile.
